My little boy had a fever today. He tossed and turned in his sleep. As I gave him his medicine and wiped him down, he asked me to stay near. I jump in his bed to hold him close, my heart only in Palestine.
WCNSF- wounded child with no surviving family, they call it. A heart shattering acronym for a child whose whole world has shattered. Gentle, guiding hands and soothing lullabies vanish into the dust of the rubble and they are left to face the world without the ones who loved them the most.
World leaders, are you grasping the gravity of your decisions?
Do you see your children in the children of Palestine?
Or do you think just because they live in a different land with different features, their hearts don’t beat the same as yours do?
I get up to fetch a glass of water and my little boy asks
“Mummy, are you coming back?”
How privileged I am to say yes.
