Kalimah welcomes submissions across various forms of writing, including poetry, short stories, life writing, journalism, academic work, and other styles. Content does not need to be religious and we actively encourage writing across different genres. All submissions should align with Islamic values and principles. Please carefully review the guidelines below before submitting your work.
Word Limit: Maximum length for submissions (except academic papers) is 2,500 words. For academic papers, please submit an abstract and the first 1,000 words for review.
Islamic Values: All submissions must respect Islamic values.
Language: Submissions should be in clear, concise English, free from slang (exceptions for creative pieces) and excessive jargon.
To ensure all submissions are appropriate for our audience, the following rules apply:
1. No Profanity or Offensive Language:
Submissions must not contain any form of profanity, derogatory terms, or offensive language. We are committed to promoting positive and respectful discourse.
2. Respect for Islamic Principles:
Submissions should reflect Islamic morals and ethics. Content that promotes values counter to these will not be accepted.
3. No Explicit Sexual Content:
Submissions must not contain explicit sexual content or graphic descriptions. Educational discussions related to sex (such as within the context of marriage or health) are permitted as long as they are respectful and informative.
4. No Promotion of Alcohol, Drugs, or Other Prohibited Acts:
Content that promotes or glorifies the use of alcohol, drugs, or any other acts that are prohibited in Islam is strictly forbidden.
For academic papers, please submit:
-An abstract (up to 300 words).
-The first 1,000 words of your paper for initial review.
Please ensure that your research and references are properly cited.
Submissions should be sent in .doc or .docx format via email to submissions@kalimah.uk.
Include your name, email address, and a brief biography (up to 100 words).
Please include the genre of your work in the subject line of your email (e.g., “Poetry Submission”, “Academic Writing Submission”).
Response Time
We aim to respond to submissions within 6-8 weeks. If you have not heard from us within this timeframe, your submission has not been successful.
Rights and Copyright
By submitting your work, you affirm that it is your original creation. Plagiarism will result in immediate rejection.
Upon acceptance, Kalimah reserves the right to edit your submission for clarity and consistency while maintaining your voice and message. You will retain copyright of your work.
