well, it’s happening—right now—and instead
you look away from people who don’t look like you
and choose
silence
when you swore you’d say something
it’s been months and the clocks are still ticking
not once has your representative’s phone line started ringing
it costs you nothing to start caring,
much less to begin boycotting
and you’ve got people protesting—from all groups,
christians, muslims, sikhs, agnostics, and jews,
so what’s your excuse?
